About me I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art
in 1994. Since then I have been making non functional ceramic objects and vessels;
exhibited throughout the UK, and in N. America, Taiwan and Europe.
Commissions have been undertaken for private clients and organisations; including The Scottish Green List Awards 2010. My practice covers a number
of other activities, including residencies such as
at The Clay Studio, Philadelphia. I have taken part in group collaborative projects
such as ‘10°N/10°S- Design Exchange’. In 2010 I completed a post
graduate research degree (MPhil) at the University of Sunderland, focusing on
printed ceramics and tourism. In 2011 I was awarded a a Craft Bursary award for creative development funded by Creative Scotland, hosted by Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. I now run Cyan Clayworks, a ceramic studio and teaching facility.There is more information previous artwork on 'The Collected Animal' and 'Albertan Animal' pages. Current work in progress is on 'Current Projects'. Memberships, galleries and publications I am a professional member of the CPA (http://www.cpaceramics.co.uk). Pieces are regularly exhibited at a number of venues, including Byard Art, Cambridge, Contemporary Ceramics Centre, London and Contemporary Applied Arts, London (http://www.caa.org.uk). Recent articles published include: 'The Tourist Experience', Ceramic Review issue 248, 2011; and 'Producing Ceramic Artworks Through Tourism Research', Annals of Tourism Research (co-authored) 2011. | Tuition I have taught ceramics to a number of different groups over the years in universities and colleges, community centres and galleries. In 2012 I set up a new studio as a Community Interest Company and now offer a variety of tuition from this spacious workspace in Edinburgh. This includes regular classes for beginners, bespoke workshops, special one off workshops, short taster sessions, and one to one tuition.
